Introducing the SLO County Green Business Network

We have 5 “pillars of decarbonization” here at the SLO Climate Coalition:

  • Decarbonize Electricity
  • Electrify Transportation
  • Electrify Buildings
  • Promote natural solutions
  • Strive for Zero Waste

Every single person in SLO County has a role to play in making these goals a reality.

Businesses, though, have a special role to play. They make important decisions every day that affect our carbon footprint and while many of them have our environment’s best interests at heart, not all of them know how to achieve an optimal state of planetary zen.

Enter: the SLO Green Business Network, an extension of California Green Business Network (CAGBN). Since 1996, the CAGBN certifies and verifies that a given California business has taken the necessary steps to be considered “green” relevant to measures that address Energy Usage, Transportation Policies, Solid Waste, Water Conservation, and Pollution Prevention. In its first year of operation in SLO County it has already has certified WhaleBird Kombucha, Ten Over Studio, SLOco Massage, EcoSLO, the Chamber of Commerce, SunRun, Gatherings Thrift, and Reduce Reuse Grow, as green businesses. Additionally, the Hive, Art’s Cyclery, MindBody, Chris Burkard’s Studio, Green Goods, Islay Hill Dentistry, Natural Healing Center, Megan’s CBD Market, and others are nearing completion, with many more in process.

Help us support the network by liking their Facebook page, following them on Instagram or sharing this awesome video, and talking to your boss or employees about joining the growing list of environmentally conscious companies!
