Marketing & Communications Lead – VOLUNTEER
Location: Remote/San Luis Obispo
Job Type: Volunteer ~ 20 hours per month
Reports To: Executive Director

The SLO Climate Coalition is a community organization committed to creating a vibrant, just, and climate-resilient Central Coast. Our mission is to bring together community expertise, creativity, and resources to champion high-impact regional climate solutions that inspire other communities to do the same.

JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing & Communications Lead guides SLO Climate Coalition’s messaging, outreach, and public presence by coordinating a talented team of staff and volunteers. This role focuses on strategy, facilitation, and partnership-building—ensuring that campaigns, communications, and community relationships advance our mission and amplify climate action across the Central Coast.

Join an Action Team and help us achieve the work we’re doing!

Civic Action & Advocacy Team

  • Be a voice for change. Our Advocacy Team works tirelessly to influence local, regional, and state policies that promote sustainability and combat climate change. If you’re passionate about policy, enjoy engaging with legislators, and want to make a tangible difference, this is the team for you. Join us in Mobilizing the community to influence positive change

Communications Team

  • Help us spread the word. Our Communications Team is responsible for raising awareness about our initiatives, sharing success stories, and educating the community about climate issues. If you have skills in writing, social media, graphic design, or public relations, join us and help to amplify our impact.

Events Team

  • Bring people together. Our Events Team brings community together to celebrate, educate and inspire action for a more sustainable future. Join us and help to organize community gatherings, educational workshops and large-scale County-wide events like SLO EarthFest.. If you love organizing, have a knack for event planning, and enjoy working with people, we’d love to have you on board.

Community Engagement Team

  • Connect with Community. Our Ambassadors & Community Engagement Team serves as the Coalition’s bridge to the community through relationship building, sharing resources and engaging directly with local residents and leaders to expand the climate-resilience movement locally.
