Our volunteers make our mission possible!

Climate champions

The volunteers who make the biggest difference

Each year we honor the Climate Coalition volunteer who had the biggest impact on our climate efforts. Ken Frye: Artisan in Wood creates a gorgeous award for our rock star climate champion as we honor their efforts to make SLO a climate leader.

2025 Climate Champion

John Smigelski

John Smigelski is the recipient of the 2025 Climate Champion award! John has been an unsung climate hero in our community for many years. He is on the Leadership Team of SLO Climate Coalition and on the steering committee of the state organization, California Alliance for Community Energy. Congratulations, John!

Climate fellows
