Reduce or remove unnecessary electrical loads
You would be stunned how much energy you can save by following these tips!
Cut phantom energy use.
By unplugging devices and chargers that are not being used–power strips can allow you to shut off many devices at once. Devices use energy when plugged into the wall even if they’re turned off. Plug several devices into a smart power strip and it will turn all these energy vampires off when you’re not using them. Turn off the lights in unused rooms and use cool lighting
Compact fluorescent lights and LED lights are significant energy savers compared to incandescent bulbs. These lights don’t give off heat when in use which is really important when you are trying to keep a space cool. Also remember incandescent bulbs can be thrown away, but compact fluorescent bulbs need to be properly recycled.
Unplug and recycle old or rarely used refrigerators/freezers
Having an extra fridge or freezer you rarely use is more expensive than you might realize. It’s like running an air conditioner 24 hours a day. You will see an immediate difference in your next power bill.
